Welcome to the Point Spread League

League Overview

  • Each league picks an NCAA Football Conference to be their "preferred main conference" for games throughout the year.
  • There will be a league schedule each week where the players will be facing off head-to-head
  • Each week of the regular season, the players will be given the same 10 games (there are extra games for the playoffs)
  • In addition to picking the games from their preferred main conference, there will be other games added for a total of 10
  • The additional games will be "high profile" games with highly ranked teams (schedule willing) on major networks
  • The players will then take their best shot at picking the winners of the 10 games against the spread

Flow of Events

  • Each week, each player has a head to head matchup against another player in the league. Just like fantasy football.
  • Each week, each team will select the conference games point spread winners as well as a few games that are determined "games of the week".
  • There will be 10 games each week.
  • Lines for the week will be sent out every Tuesday.
  • Games other than the "preferred conference" chosen will be "high profile" games.
  • Each week, you can win, lose, or tie your matchup. Wins get a full point, ties get a 1/2 point, Losses get 0
  • Total number of "covers" will be kept for a season total (Playoff Wild Cards will be from the top season pick %)
  • At the end of the regular season, we will have the 8 best records and 4 wildcards (best pick %) advance to the Playoffs.
  • There will be an open week before the playoffs begin. This week will be used to break any ties to determine playoff teams. A 3-3-3 record will be considered in a tie with a 4-4-1 record (regardless of pick %).
  • Wild Card % cannot be passed in the open week.
  • Pick % champion will go all the way thru the bowl games.

Wins & Losses calculations

  • For Example: Player A is facing Player B and A goes 6-4 and B goes 5-5 for the week, Player A will get the win and a point and Player B the loss and 0 points
  • In this league, ties do happen a lot and if both A & B go 6-4 they will obviously tie and each player will get a half point
  • There are tie-breakers which will come into play once the playoffs begin.
  • The regular season will coincide with the college football regular season

About Us

The Point Spread League began in 2006 with some good friends that loved college football and loved talking about spreads on games. It evolved into a point spread fantasy league where our friends could pick games in a head to head matchup each week. It is kind of like an "office pool on steroids". For several of the guys it took over their regular player fantasy league. Some still did both, but the league kept getting bigger and bigger with almost no defections.

The anticipation for the 1st college football weekend always gets Jokko revved up in anticipation of finally taking home the title that he has never won.
